The Evening History Major:
A major in history offers
a fine foundation for careers in such fields as law, government,
education, journalism, and business, to name only a few. History
students acquire skills much sought after in a variety of professions:
skills of researching, distilling, and analyzing information, skills
of problem solving, of presenting convincing conclusions, with clarity
and precision.
Sir Francis Bacon once
remarked, "History makes men wise." US Supreme Court Justice Oliver
Wendell Holmes, commented, "A page of history is worth a volume
of logic." And perhaps the Sioux said it best: "People without history
are like the wind on the buffalo grass."
