Evening Humanities Major

LVAIC is proud to sponsor two rare opportunities for adults to study the humanities at night. Studying English or History allows adults to pursue career goals that can’t be met by the usual evening majors in business, computer science, or the social sciences. Students enroll at one of the participating colleges and complete that college’s requirements for the degree and for a major in either history or English. The colleges coordinate their course offerings so students can get the upper level courses they need by taking the occasional course elsewhere.

The Evening English Major:

A major in English isn’t reserved for the sole use of aspiring writers and teachers. People with English degrees have succeeded at virtually every career: literature, education, marketing, sales, public relations, management, human resources, public office, the law, journalism, television and radio, to name just a few.

Whatever the field, people who possess writing, speaking, and critical thinking abilities are more likely to land good jobs and advance more quickly than others. English majors master these skills.
